Buyer Beware

Please please UPDATE this app!!! I find it to be very useful, when it works! Which has been less than usual these past few days :(...since writing this review the app has yet to work properly. Not only am I stuck with an expensive camera, Im out of pocket for the upgrade price. May I say to those responsible for customer satisfaction...consumer reviews can have an ugly impact on sales!

Update please

Constant crash on 7.0.4 iPhone 5S. Also needs iOS 7 update. Please fix. Its too late to return this garbage and now I cant use it at all.

Bought as a gift and will be bringing it back to Apple store. Buggy, slow, and our kid will be driving by the time I notice hes gone on the monitor. Disappointment.

App needs work

After last update it is slower goes offline and doesnt save photos if alerts. I have checked all settings and there is no reason for it not functioning

Unusable half of the time

The concept is great. If the app would open this device would be awesome. Please work on your software so we can use your hardware. I need to reset the app or camera once a week.

Frustrated

Had two of the units over a year. Decent picture quality. Slow image speeds. Forget about taking a snapshot and saving to iPhone 5 camera roll (times out)

Until Philips gets behind this...dont!

How Philips can allow this app to be so bad when the liability of calling it a baby monitor...wonder how many babies were in trouble with no feed available with thus " monitor" ... You really need to fix this Philips !

Completely adequate, can be improved with software

I have use this product for about one week on iPad and iPhone (version 2.3.0), and I am very satisfied, despite its quirks, which I will list here (in hopes that they will be fixed in a future version): * iPhone/iPad follows the default screen lock time. Please add the ability to keep app open indefinitely, like other video-playing apps. * Night Vision mode only work for 10 minutes at a time (and delivers annoying messages before and after entering Night Vision mode). If it is night time, I will need to use it from sun-down until sun-up. This has been the most annoying bug of all. * iPhone version has the ability to click a microphone icon and "speak" through the camera unit. The iPad has the same icon, but it doesnt seem to work. * It is not clear how to enter full screen mode in the iPad version. Random taps on the screen seem to activate it. * Not really clear on what Always Listening mode means. * Must quit app and re-launch each time device is put to sleep. It either freezes or crashes otherwise. Despite these annoying and fixable problems, I would recommend this product. The video quality is just SD, not HD (despite the name of the product), but you can very easily see enough detail to know if your baby is asleep/awake/moving/missing?/in distress. I havent tried to capture a picture or video, but I would prefer a better camera (even the iPhone camera) for that.

Never again will I buy another philips product

This is the worst purchase I can remember making. Shame on Philips for billing something so unreliable as a monitor-- it monitors nothing, it crashes and times out so often. And everyone has the same issues, and Philips still doesnt fix them! The shocking indifference this company shows with something important as a device sold to MONITOR a BABY is really disappointing- and telling. I will never buy another Philips product again, nor will I ever trust this one. Shame on Philips!

Rarely works!

Both the app and webview for this camera are just awful. I can rarely get it to stream video for longer than a few minutes and even at that the noise will cut in and out. It is horrible at maintaining a connection to the camera. I know its not my WiFi connection bc I have a different brand camera (dropcam) that works flawlessly. Do not waste your money on this product. Extremely inconsistent and should not be trusted with something as precious as the monitoring of your child. Very disappointed.

Lacks Support/Updates

Philips has not kept up with necessary security updates. As of April 2014 the Insight cameras no longer connect to Dropbox. The cameras are now useless as you cannot save and watch recorded video of your motion/sound alerts.

Stop and read before you purchase!! I bought a Phillips Insight camera as a security measure. Easy to set up and to top it off, pictures and video were sent to my Dropbox account. Everything worked great for over a year. Recently the app was updated and since then I have not been able to playback alerts, be they audio or video. It no longer sends files to my Dropbox account. Tech support is useless. I tried one camera on my sisters network to see if I would be able to playback alerts I received. It did not work. My network is not the problem!! It is the app. Do not purchase this camera until this app it updated. It has not been updated in a long time. I do not recommend this product now.

One of the poorest apps - and no support

Unfortunately most of the poor reports are quite right. I own two monitors, because I liked the idea that they also measure the temperature and they claim "HD". But the app works 1 of 3 times, mostly it claimes that all cameras are offline. It takes ages to connect if they are not. And since the Heartbleed bug, the support for Dropbox has been cancelled, so you receive warnings, but cannot see anything because the clips are not stored anymore and the cameras that just sent an alarm are offline...

Really clunky

Great idea, bad implementation. The UI isnt very intuitive, and features seem to lock up or not respond often. I have to close the app and remove it from multitask to get things to start working again.

A joke - a toy - waste of money

It has a few nice features...if it worked! Ive given this system two years of wasted time. All of the updates along the way have not improved. Maybe even worse. One of my cameras no longer works. Response on app is frustratingly slow. Just replaced w Dropcam system which is considerable improvement already. Apple Store no longer carries In.Sight system. This is the second Philips item purchased in my lifetime. Both have failed miserably. First being a CD recorder years back that was equally unreliable and quit working altogether. Ill never buy another Philips product again.

Good But Needs Improvement

We have been using this system & app for a year now. The cameras work terrifically & the app is easy enough to use; however, the online aspect is lacking. The live streaming frequently goes offline & the app will crash. Sometimes the streaming will work on on device but not another. We have been fairly satisfied with this as it does work. I would be apt to give it more stars if it didnt go offline so often. I actually bought a different baby monitor today since this app has become increasingly undependable for monitoring. Should the developers improve streaming function & fix the glitches, itll be a 5 star app for sure. Until then though, we are switching to another monitor.

Update? REALLY?!

I was so excited to finally see an update for this app, but was disappointed to find that it has actually made it WORSE!! How can it be possible that an update could make it worse?! I hate these cameras! As soon as I get new ones, I will be taking great delight in smashing these to pieces and deleting this app forever. How dare you make me spend $200 for this worthless junk and still charge an annual fee for live streaming! I will NEVER use a philips product again! NEVER!!!

Just Useless

Couldnt have said it any better myself John. Hope folks read these reviews prior to buying a useless camera. BTW, what happened to the old reviews?
